By any chance is this the same Gianetto Copolo who painted Heinrich Himmler and His SS Council as it appears on the cover of the Cambridge Perspectives in History volume Fascism by Richard Thurlow. The style would seem to allow that it's the same person, and it's perfectly possible chronologically that a man painting Germand state portraits in the 1930's could be doing British book covers in the 1960s.
